One of the Greenspot Salad fan favorite’s is the classic Cobb. with all the fresh ingredients you’ll get a salad loaded with crispy romaine, hard boiled egg, bacon, carrot and avocado, plus you’ll get all the top quality ingredients to make your salad healthy and filling.

Yup, it’s that simple. Here’s some tips for developing limitless salad combinations with ingredients that are delicious and heart healthy– with each component chock filled with the healthy nutrients noted in the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference.

The Fundamentals of Producing a Super-Healthy Salad:

We start with locally sourced, seasonal produce and after that add protein and a healthy dressing and you’re good to go.

Consume a big salad every day to enhance your metabolic health, energy and overall wellness!

1. Greenspot Greens
The darker or redder, the better– so think romaine and leaf lettuces like butter lettuce (vitamin C, folic acid, potassium). Leafy greens — Jazz things up with spring mix, baby spinach and kale (beta-carotene, anti-oxidants).

Greenspot suggestion: Load up on our spring mix, spinach or kale as your salad or bowl base to enjoy all the added benefits of those leafy greens!

2. Create Some Color
(a beautiful salad is a tasty salad!)… Tomatoes (fiber, vitamins A, C and K, potassium, manganese). Red, orange, yellow or green peppers (vitamins C, B1, B2 and B6, folate).

Red onion (fiber, phytochemicals). Pomegranate seeds (vitamins A, C and E, fiber, potassium, calcium, anti-oxidants). Avocado slices (over 20 minerals and vitamins, heart-healthy fat). Red, purple or yellow beets (folate).

Greenspot tip: Add as many vegetables onto your Greenspot Salad or Bowl  — it’s only .50 cents extra after your first 6 salad bar ingredients!

3. Go Crunchy … Pea pods (vitamins A and C, iron), Cucumber (vitamin C). Purple cabbage (vitamins A and C, iron). Broccoli florets (vitamin C). Alfalfa sprouts (anti-oxidants).

4. Punch Up the Protein
Black beans, garbanzo beans or lentils (fiber). Chicken or lean beef. Salmon or water-packed tuna (omega-3 fats). Hard-boiled eggs. Low-fat feta cheese, blue cheese, goat cheese, parmesan or mozzarella (calcium, vitamin D). Tofu (heart-healthy fat, potassium).

Greenspot pointer: Full-fat cheeses are high in saturated fat. Trying combining small amounts of your favorite cheese with other proteins.

5. Dressing it up light
Lime juice (vitamin C, potassium) Lemon juice (vitamin C, folate). Red red wine or balsamic vinegar. Olive oil (heart-healthy fat).

Greenspot suggestion: Use more vinegar and citrus, and less oil. Still in the mood to indulge in our creamier dressings? Always ask for your dressing on the side!

If you’re not eating salad really often, try starting possibly with one or two salads a week. Not vibing with all the lettuce and veggies?  Ease into healthier eating with one of our hearty Greenspot grain bowls like our Harvest Chicken Bowl!

After you wrap salads into your diet regularly you’ll be amazed at how you’ll start to feel great about what you’re eating– and how creative you can get. Then, slowly build up to one each day, plus full-meal salads once or twice a week.

You’ll quickly have more energy and feel better than ever.
